Recreating a poetical lotus pond

ADORNING THE CAMPUS: The lotus pond set up by the students of the Politics Department of Government College, Madappally.

When their teacher described the lotus pond mentioned in `Nalini,' a `Khanda Kavyam' (mini poem) by poet Kumaranasan, students of Politics Department of Government College, Madappally, near Vadakara, thought of making one on their campus. So they set out to make their dream come true.

Now water flows through the pebbles into the lotus pond with a wall of grass forming the boundary of the lotus pond. The total cost of constructing the pond came to Rs.8,000. The Parent-Teacher Association contributed Rs.5,000. The students collected rest.They worked for nearly two weeks day and night in undertaking masonry, painting and other works. Now the lotus pond adorns the campus giving it a new charm.
