KOZHIKODE: The notification for admissions to Master of Computer Application (MCA) programme in the National Institutes of Technology (NITs), being conducted through All India NIT MCA Entrance Test (NIMCET-06), has been issued. MCA admission to NIT Calicut and other eight NITs (about 420 seats) is on the basis of the rank obtained in the NIMCET-06. The nine NITs offering MCA programme are located at Allahabad, Bhopal, Calicut, Durgapur, Jamshedpur, Rourkela, Surathkal, Tiruchirapalli and Warangal. Students seeking admission to MCA programme in any of the above NITs need not apply to individual NITs, but should appear for NIMCET-06. The admission is through a Centralised Counselling at NIT, Warangal, based on NIMCET-06 ranklist. The counselling will be in June. Candidates with an aggregate of 60 per cent marks (6.5/10 CGPA) in Bachelor's degree of minimum three years duration from a recognised university in any discipline, with Mathematics as one of the subjects both in graduation and at 10+2 level, are eligible. Those candidates who are appearing for the qualifying examinations in 2006 are also eligible to appear for the test. However, they will have to furnish proof of eligibility at the time of counselling /admission. Only Indian nationals are eligible to appear for NIMCET-06. NIMCET-06 is scheduled for May 14 at 15 centres across the country. Tentative list of centres are NITs at Allahabad, Bhopal, Calicut, Durgapur, Hamirpur, Jaipur, Jallandhar, Jamshedpur, Kurukshetra, Nagpur, Rourkela, Surat, Surathkal, Tiruchirapalli and Warangal. The test is for a duration of two-and-a-half hours, consisting of 120 objective type questions covering the subjects Mathematics, Logical reasoning, Computer awareness and English comprehension. Candidates can download the application form, syllabus for the test and information brochure from the following websites: www.mnnit.ac.in, www.manit.ac.in,www.nitc.ac.in,www.nitdgp.ac.in, www.nitjsr.com, www.nitk.ac.in, www.nitt.edu, www.nitrkl.ac.in, www.nitw.ernet.in. Candidates can also apply online only at www.nitc.ac.in. Duly filled in applications should be sent to the Convenor, NIMCET-06, NIT Calicut, NIT Campus post - 673 601, Kerala, along with an application fee of Rs.700 (Rs.350 for SC/ST), in the form of a crossed demand draft drawn on State Bank of India, Chathamangalam (code 2207) or any other nationalised banks in favour of "Convenor, NIMCET-06" payable at Calicut/Kozhikode, so as to reach the Convenor by March 27, Dr. T.K. Suresh Babu, Convenor-NIMCET-06, said in a press release here on Tuesday.
