Hatsun Agro to expand capacity

To put up five chilling centres at Salem

CHENNAI: Hatsun Agro Product Ltd, manufacturer of branded milk and ice cream, is planning to invest Rs. 14.50 crore to expand the capacity of its powder factory and also to set up five chilling centres.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, R. G. Chandramogan, Managing Director, Hatsun, said the new powder plant with a capacity of three lakh litres a day was being put up at its Kancheepuram Dairy plant. Similarly, five chilling centres would come up in and around Salem. The investment would come from internal accrual and loans.

Mr. Chandramogan said last year the company had invested Rs. 43.75 crore and during the current year it had invested Rs. 15.58 crore.

With this expansion programme, the capacity of liquid milk would go up to 10 lakh litres a day and of other ingredients would go up to 7.5 lakh litres a day.

Hatsun had entered into an agreement with Dairy Projects International of New Zealand for marketing milk products abroad.

Mr. Chandramogan said the company had recorded a turnover of Rs. 453 crore last year, and Rs. 415 crore in the first nine months of the current year.
