He walks to freedom after 38 years in jail

Faizabad (U.P.): Languishing in jail for the past 38 years without trial, 70-year-old Jagjivan Yadav on Tuesday walked to freedom after a local court set him free on furnishing a personal bond.

A day after the Supreme Court granted him bail in a murder case dating back to 1968, the Additional District Judge released him after he furnished a personal bond of Rs. 25,000.

Yadav was booked under section 302 IPC for allegedly murdering a woman and had been languishing in Faizabad jail since then. His son Keshavram, who was present in the court, thanked the Supreme Court for initiating action in getting his father released. — PTI
