PATIENT LISTNER: Chairperson of the Kerala State Women's Commission M. Kamalam receiving complaints during a sitting at the Collectorate Conference Hall in Kannur on Wednesday.
KANNUR: The Kerala State Women's Commission dealt with a number of family problems in the district on Tuesday. Commission chairperson M. Kamalam said after a sitting at the Collectorate Conference Hall here that most of the cases that came up at the hearing were of diverse family issues. They involved assault by husbands, property disputes and suspicion about spouses' fidelity, she said. It required deeper examination to find out if cases of family problems were on the increase in the district, she added. At the sitting, 35 complaints came up before the commission. Eleven of them could be settled. Commission member Kulsu said the number of DNA-based parenthood examination cases had come down in the district. Speedy action of the commission on such complaints might be the reason for the decline in number of such cases, she added. Ms. Kamalam said that the commission would initiate action on the torching of an authorikshaw of a woman near Payyannur
