KOLLAM: The Anchal police on Tuesday arrested three persons, including two women, following the seizure of an antique panchalohal idol of Lord Ayyappa from their house. Two other metal idols of Lord Vishnu were also seized. Police identified those arrested as Sukumaran, Vavamma and Janeamma. They were produced before and court at Punalur and remanded. Police said that the arrested persons could not give any convincing reply on how the idols came into their possession. All that Sukumaran said that it was given to him by a relative in Chennai. They were making arrangements to sell the idols. It was middleman who tipped off the police.
