NIZAMABAD : Three sisters died and the condition of their brother, mother and grand parents is stated to be serious after they ate food prepared at their home at Oddetipally under Makloor police station limits on Monday. Though the exact reason for the incident is not known, it is believed that consumption of poisonous food might have resulted in their death. The family members did not suspect any one in the case, according to Makloor Sub-Inspector T.N. Swamy. Kaduduram Peda Mallaiah (75), his wife Devubai (65), their daughter-in-law Chinnubai (35) and grandson Mahesh (6) were referred to a hospital in Hyderabad as their condition was serious, while Chinnubai's three daughters, Soni (7), Mamata (11) and Mounika (14) died. Sonia died on way to the district headquarters hospital the same evening and Mamata and Mounika breathed their last this morning while undergoing treatment. Chinnubai's husband Bhumaiah is away in the Gulf. He had gone to the Gulf just two months ago. The SI said a case was registered under Section 174 and investigation was on.
Rasta-roko staged
The Oddetipally villagers, meanwhile, staged a `rasta-roko' for a brief time near the hospital protesting against the alleged negligence of doctors in saving the patients. They alleged that had the doctors attended on the victims immediately they could have survived. The duty doctors, however, denied the allegation saying that the patients were brought to the hospital from a private hospital when hopes for their survival were lost. The protesters relented only after Revenue Divisional Officer Chandrasekhar and police officers who were deployed for security prevailed upon them saying that an enquiry would be conducted on the causes leading to the death of Soni, Mamata and Mounika.
