Budget session rescheduled

Special Correspondent

Business to be closed on March 28

  • The decision taken to enable members to reach their constituencies by Ugadi
  • CPI suggestion for minimum disruption is welcomed by all

Hyderabad : The Business Advisory Committee of the Assembly, which met here on Tuesday, rescheduled the current Budget session so as to close the business on March 28 instead of March 30 as planned earlier. This decision was taken to enable the members to reach their constituencies by Ugadi, the Telugu New Year day.

Consequently, it was decided to observe two Saturdays, February 18 and 25, as working days to enable the House complete 30 working days in the session.

It was also decided to convene the BAC again on March 2 to discuss further business as there were some differences on the issues to be taken up under the provisions like Short Discussion and Rule 304.

    Congress demand

The Congress Legislature Party's demand for taking up the adjournment motions after the Question Hour to ensure smooth conduct of the question hour was spurned by the others who argued that the right of the Opposition would be curtailed in such a case.

A suggestion made by the CPI that there should be minimum disruption was welcomed by all. However, Leader of the Opposition N. Chandrababu Naidu was quick to point out that the problem was not the making of TDP members. The TDP had always maintained the decorum of the House and had caused the least disruption, he said comparing its performance with some of the opposition parties in other States.

    Dig at Naidu

Minister for Legislative Affairs K. Rosaiah was said to have taken a dig at Mr. Naidu asking him to compare his performance with the best and not the worst.

Speaker K.R. Suresh Reddy appealed to the parties to make quality contribution to the debates and discussions. T. Veerabhadram of CPI(M), Chada Venkat Reddy (CPI), Akbaruddin Owaisi (MIM), G. Vijaya Rama Rao (TRS) and G. Kishan Reddy (BJP) were present.
