Rasta roko for better amenities

KADAPA: CPI activists and residents of Bhagatsinghnagar staged rasta roko on Kadapa-Bangalore national highway on Tuesday demanding action to check pollutants from brick kilns, better drinking water supply, roads and drains.

Bhagatsinghnagar inhabited by poorer sections lacked basic amenities, CPI Town Secretary G. Chandra lamented. Lack of roads and drains was flooding houses with murky water during rains, he said. Smoke emanating from brick kilns was causing respiratory ailments and stagnant water pools became breeding grounds for pigs and mosquitos, he alleged. The colony lacked proper drinking water supply.
