Students felicitated

NEW DELHI: The New Delhi Municipal Council on Tuesday felicitated over 200 students who scored maximum marks in their respective subjects in the Secondary and Senior Secondary Examinations conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education in 2005.

NDMC Secretary Keshav Chandra distributed prizes among the meritorious students at a function in N.P. Bengali Senior Secondary School here. Mr. Chandra said imparting education was the utmost priority of the civic body that had sufficient funds to achieve its objective.

Doctor honoured

NEW DELHI: Dr. Vijay Arora, Chairman of the Department of General Surgery, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, has been honoured by the International Study Circle, a forum of Intellectuals, with "Rashtriya Ratan Award and Gold Medal and Certificate of Medical Excellence" for contribution towards society and medicine as a medical practitioner.

Career seminars

NEW DELHI: PT Education, with over 40 centres across the country training students aspiring to enter Indian Institutes of Management, has organised "CATALOGUE" -- a series of special career guidance seminars on prospects of management studies across the country.

The Delhi edition of the seminar was organised at the Indian Institute of Technology.

Annual festival

NEW DELHI: The Ansal Institute of Technology in suburban Gurgaon celebrated its annual cultural festival, "Manthan 2K6", this past week.

The festival was aimed at bringing the hidden talents of the students to the forefront through events like management quiz, talent hunts, choreography, cyber games and debates. The centre of attraction was Punjabi pop singer Jasbir Jassi, who gave a live performance.

Entrance test

NEW DELHI: The entrance test for admission to the Rashtriya Indian Military College, Dehra Dun, for the January 2007 session will be held here on June 1 and 2.

Only boys studying in Class VI and above in recognisable schools of Delhi and ranging in age between 11 and 13 years (as on January 1, 2007) are eligible to apply for the test. Application form and prospectus can be obtained from the Commandant, RIMC, Dehra Dun, on payment of a demand draft for Rs. 190.

ITBP expedition

NEW DELHI: A 28-member team of mountaineers, including one woman, of ITBP is busy training for its first ever expedition to Mount Everest scheduled to start before the monsoon this year.

According to an ITBP spokesperson, the team, led by Additional Deputy Inspector-General Harbhajan Singh, is currently training at the Mountaineering School of ITBP in Auli, Uttaranchal.
