KADAPA: Chinna Chowk police busted a gang near Kanumulopalle railway station and recovered cash and gold ornaments worth Rs. 1 lakh on Tuesday. Peddiraju, Praveen, Venkateswarlu, Anjaneyulu and Venu were arrested on charges of cheating one Hariprasad of Rs. 50,000 by offering gold biscuits at lower than market value, Kadapa DSP M. Ramprasada Rao told a press conference in Chinna Chowk police station. Peddiraju, resident of ITI area, gave a gold biscuit to lure Hariprasad into doing business in gold biscuits, when the latter approached the former though a friend, Rangaswamy. Later Rangaswamy, Hariprasad and Kondarayudu took Rs. 50,000 to Jyothi Chemicals factory on Kadapa town outskirts, when the gang threatened Hariprasad with a knife and snatched away the money as and gold ornaments on his person.
