NIZAMABAD: The Bharatiya Janata Party has blamed the Congress and Telugu Desam Party, which ruled the State for 50 long years between them, for the backwardness of Telangana and demanded that they owe an explanation to the people. Finding fault with the TDP's padayatra on the issue of irrigation projects in Telangana region, the BJP described the padayatra by the TDP and the Congress's padayatra before Assembly elections as mere political stunts intended to deceive the people. At a press conference on Tuesday, BJP State Vice-President and former MLA G. Ramakrishna Reddy expressed wonder at the TDP's padayatra saying that the party is equally to be blamed for injustice to the region as it ruled the State for 17 years 6 months, and the Congress for 32 years 6 months. BJP State secretary Aljapur Srinivas, district president Y. Lakshminarayana, party district in-charge M. Bheem Rao, Dalit Morcha leader J. Sailoo and party district secretary Shivappa attended.
Corruption
Accusing the Congress of being steeped in corruption and running an inefficient administration in the State, he alleged that it had ignored all its promises made to the people before elections. It had come to power by promising that power would be supplied to the agriculture sector for nine hours continuously, but it failed to do so. It was this Government, which asked the farmers to go for the irrigation dry crops and made it clear that it would not give free power if the paddy was grown in rabi. But, when the ID crops were grown it was saying that power supply would be given at staggered hours-four hours in the night and three during day.
Palle Pilupu
To explain all this to the people the BJP would launch `Palle Pilupu' from February 25 to March 3 and during the period the party cadres would cover all villages. They would prepare the people for a mass movement against the Government by exposing its failures and gimmicks, he said.
