Wrangle over coins persists
|
Opposition to spend another night to demand for its acceptance
|
Bhubaneswar:
The deadlock over the heaps of coins lying in the Orissa Assembly remained unresolved for the second day on Tuesday as several Opposition legislators decided to `spend another night' in the House in an unprecedented act to press for the demand that the coins be duly accepted.
Congress members brought in several bags of coins into the House on Monday, claiming that they amounted to Rs. 60,000, which they wanted to pay as `compensation' for the damage caused to microphones in the House by three of their members during the monsoon session. Nimai Sarkar, Rabindra Mallick and Debasish Patnaik had been asked by the House to compensate the loss. When the House assembled on Tuesday, the coins were still on the reporters' table. PTI
