HYDERABAD: Young Hyderabadis made it clear that when it comes to quizzing, even a Valentine's Day is no distraction. For the regional finals of Tata Crucible -The Campus Quiz 2006 saw over 170 teams from across the State battle for the big prize -- Rs. 60,000 and a chance to participate in the national finals to be held in Mumbai on February 26. Which new Airlines has a tag line-"New Horizons, Enduring Values" was the question which sealed the fate of the five finalists conferring the victory on B. Praneeth and C. Ramamoorthy, students from the Institute of Public Enterprises, who hugged each other after rolling out the winning answer --Indian, the new domestic carrier launched by Indian Airlines.
`Efforts paid off'
"This was one of the greatest quizzes we participated in... It is the result of one year's effort. Our aim to win the national level quiz is just a step away," said the duo for whom this victory tasted sweeter as last year they had missed it by just one question. But the quiz was not a cakewalk for them. Giving them a fight for the money were `techies' from JNTU and Sant Samarth Engineering College, sharp managers from Indian School of Business and ICFAI and another team from their own institution IPE.
Tough battle
While the techies displayed knowledge and quick thinking, ISB team showed that when it came to lateral thinking, they wore all the creative hats, but it was preparation and consistency that finally brought the winners ahead. Now the two are dreaming really big to make their marks on the Mumbai scene wresting the trophy from the likes of BIM, Trichy, XLRI, Jamshedpur, FMS, New Delhi and others.
