HYDERABAD: For the first time in the twin cities, an exclusive exhibition to display products and handicrafts of minority self-help groups (SHGs) and artisans will be organised at the Haj House from Wednesday. The 10-day exhibition being organised jointly by the State Minorities Finance Corporation and the National Minorities Development and Finance Corporation will have SHGs and artisans coming from all over the State, besides West Bengal, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Giving details to mediapersons on Tuesday, State Minorities Finance Corporation Vice-Chairman and Managing Director Mirza Hasan Ali Baig said that 50 stalls would be put up in the adjoining land available on Haj House premises. The products to be displayed would include `Karchob', embroidery, `Zardosi', Lacquer bangles, `Kamdari', soft toys, readymade garments, Dharmavaram, Pochampally, Gadwal and Narayanpet sarees, ornaments with gold covering, artificial pearls sets, etc. The objective of the exhibition was to encourage artisans and SHGs who had availed themselves of loans from the corporation to display and market their products. The corporation would not charge any rent for the stalls and would provide TA, DA and accommodation in the Haj House for artisans coming from outside the city.
