Coimbatore: Flipping through a fat Bible with frayed edges is no longer necessary. Press a key and read the entire Bible on the small screen. The Bible is now available on a trendy digital organiser. Sleek and compact, you could slip it into your pocket and pull out whenever needed. Technology is the order of the day. Even the Bible is out in the form of interactive CDs, animation series and digital devices.

The bible exhibition organised by the Bible Society of India has an assorted collection of Bibles, Bible games, VCDs, audio casettes and movies. You could increase the point size, search for particular books, chapters and even verses from the Bible in this electronic Bible. You could also leave a bookmark in it for further reference. Popular in the United Kingdom, the market for the product is only developing in India, says an official of the Bible Society of India.

New concept

The talk Bible is also a relatively new concept introduced by the Bible Society of India. It is a tiny device with silver keys. It narrates the "Words of God." "The volume can be increased," says an official of the Bible Society of India. It costs Rs. 850.

The interactive CDs for children have puzzles, games, Biblical maps and songs they can sing along.

Personalised Bibles also formed part of the 400 different varieties of the bible. Men, women, children and youth had separate Bibles with attractive covers.

Vast collection

"The contents are the same, but the portions relating to each category will be highlighted," said another official of the society.

Interesting varieties such as recovery Bible, thinline Bible, spiritual renewal Bible are only a few in the vast collection of personalised Bibles.

And, all aspiring sportspersons should check out this one called the sports devotional Bible. It has quotes from the various great sportspersons and their take on spirituality and the holy book. The books are available in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.

The fair concludes on February 15.
