BANGALORE: A two-year-old boy received minor burns when 10 huts were gutted in a fire that broke out at a hutment on Bannerghatta Road in Mico Layout police station limits on Tuesday afternoon. According to Fire and Emergency Services personnel, the accident at the hutment near J.D. Mara in N.S. Palya occurred after flames from a stove engulfed a hut and spread to other huts. Two fire tenders rushed to the spot to put out the fire, the fire personnel said. Yesu (2), who received minor burns, was admitted to hospital. This is the third such incident in a week and the second in the same place. On February 9, fire broke out at the same place in which Manjunath Nayak (40), a construction worker from Gulbarga, suffered burns and 40 huts were gutted. Nearly 150 huts belonging to construction workers were destroyed in a fire that broke out near Nayanadahalli in Chandra Layout police station limits in the early hours of February 9.
Trader robbed
Three persons robbed a hardware shop owner of Rs. 13,000 after tying him to a table in Papareddypalya in Jnanabharati police station limits on Monday night. According to police, three persons came to the shop around 8.30 p.m. and asked Rakesh to show some articles. When Rakesh took them inside the shop, the miscreants pounced on him and tied him to a table. The miscreants then made away with the cash kept in the shop. On a complaint by Rakesh, the Jnanabharati police are investigating the case.
Two killed
Two persons were killed in separate accidents reported in the city on Monday night. Premanath (43), a resident of Ejipura, was injured when a mini-lorry hit the motorcycle he was riding on Lasker Road in Ashok Nagar traffic police station limits. He died of injuries at a private hospital. Narasimhaiah (53) was killed when he was knocked down by a sports utility vehicle on Sri Ramapura Main Road. According to police, the driver lost control of the vehicle and hit Narasimhaiah, who was standing next to a roadside stall. He died at a private hospital.
