KOCHI: United India Insurance Company Ltd. is offering a health plan for the tsunami-affected people below the poverty line (BPL) in the State. The premium for the Universal Health Plan for BPL families will be paid by the Prime Minister's Office. The scheme will be implemented in the tsunami-affected districts of the State. The district administration will provide the details of the families to the company, which would issue the health identity cards. "The medical insurance would provide cover for other diseases too," said M. Sivaraman, deputy general manager of the company. This point was introduced into the plan as a gesture by the PMO, he said.
