One killed in wall collapse

NEW DELHI: A labourer was killed and three others were injured when the boundary wall near which they were digging a pit collapsed on them near the Golf Links road in New Delhi on Tuesday.

According to the police, five labourers were digging a pit within the complex of house No. 47, owned by D.K. Jain, to create foundation for a pillar when the boundary wall of house No. 46 collapsed on them around 1 p.m.

All five were rushed to the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences where one of them, later identified as Rishi Dev, a 22-year-old resident of Purulia in West Bengal, was declared brought dead. Those injured have been identified as Ram Vilas, Prakash and Tulsi.

Wanted courier of weapons arrested

NEW DELHI: A person wanted in connection with a decade-old case pertaining to smuggling of weapons and drugs at the instance of Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), against whom a look-out notice had been issued, was arrested at Delhi airport by the Southern Range of the Special Cell when he was allegedly trying to flee to Pakistan on Monday.

The accused, Gayur Ali, a resident of Kairana at Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh, was going to Pakistan on a visa issued to him for the India-Pakistan one-day international cricket match series when he was arrested. During interrogation, he purportedly revealed that his accomplices, Hazi Manzoor, Riozwan, Islamuddin, Mohammad Ayub, Pushpender Bansal and Ehsan Ali were arrested after 28 pistols and 27 magazines were recovered from their possession in Karol Bagh.

Nehru Bal Samiti

NEW DELHI: Nehru Bal Samiti in cooperation with the Indo-Russian Council for Child Development and the Russian Cultural Centre is organising its 43rd annual awards and prize distribution function at 24 Ferozeshah Road here on Wednesday.

Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit will be the chief guest at the function that will also be attended by Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ram Babu Sharma. A cultural programme organised by Bal Mela awardees will be presented.

Students from 80 educational institutions of Delhi and neighbouring towns will participate in various competitions. A highlight will be presentation of the Samiti's Kala Bhushan Awards-2005 and Kala Shree Awards-2005.

Two held for fake complaint

NEW DELHI: A 27-year-old woman and her beloved were arrested by the Timarpur police in North Delhi on Tuesday for allegedly lodging a false complaint of criminal assault against a person for money.
