CHENNAI: As the red curtain went up, the singer from Sankar Ram's `Saadaga Paravaigal' began with a deep-toned "Yaar Yaar Sivam," from the film `Anbe Sivam.' At a function, titled `Isaiyodu Naan,' organised by `Saadaga Paravaigal' and the TVK Cultural Academy, select and popular hits of Vidya Sagar were the theme of the show.
Versatility
Vidya Sagar, who made his entry into the world of film music at the age of 11, plays 10 musical instruments and is the recipient of five State awards, a national award in 2004 and is the first south Indian to compose for a Hollywood film, was felicitated at a function sponsored by the Chennai Corporate Club, for his contribution to the world of Tamil film music. The evening continued with heart-pounding, tympanum-shattering film hit after hit at a packed Kamarajar Arangam in celebration of a film musician who has scored for over 200 films in the four south Indian languages and Hindi. Playback singer P. Susheela, film director Dharani, lyricist P. Vijay, actress Padmini and actor Vikram participated in the felicitation.
