HAL on a roll

BANGALORE: Reigning champion Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) continued its winning streak in the George Hoover Cup senior division football league here on Wednesday with a 3-1 verdict over AGORC.

Despite the absence of two of its main players — Xavier Vijay Kumar and Kuttimani — the Aircraftmen weaved circles around the AGORC side and opened its scoring through Satish in the 37th minute before Kenneth Onu consolidated the lead in the 41st.

Fifth win

However AGORC's Muthu pulled one back just before the break to spark some interest. However Nanda put the issue beyond AGORC with a 67th minute strike to give HAL its fifth win in seven matches and a tally of 17 points.

For AGORC it was its sixth defeat in eight outings with one win and a draw to show.

Earlier, Postal downed Dharmaraja Union 4-1 with goals from Xavier (5th and 17th), Kothandapani (39th) and Issac (53rd) while Mugilan (35th) reduced the margin. — Sports Reporter
