ISLAMABAD: Three Chinese engineers and their Pakistani driver were gunned down by unidentified persons in Balochistan on Wednesday. According to Pakistan's private television channel Geo, the engineers were returning from a cement plant in Hub, about 700 km southeast of Quetta, the capital of Balochistan. Chinese technical personnel engaged in several developmental projects in the province have been the target of some of the militant nationalist groups in the province. The nationalists have been accusing the federal government of gifting away several profitable projects to China for very little in return. This is the third major incident involving the Chinese personnel in the last two years. Three Chinese engineers were killed in a bombing in May 2004.
