Pondicherry
Special Correspondent
Pondicherry: The Ministerial Staff of the Pondicherry government would resume mass earned leave on Thursday, and abstain from work till the end of this month, according to the convenor of Unified Action Committee of the Ministerial Staff P.Lakshmanasamy. He told The Hindu here on Wednesday that although it was planned that the staff resort to "relay picketing'' it was not finalised, as there was still scope that a positive response might be available from the government to the demands of the staff. They were demanding that the emoluments be revised upward and that the posts of clerks and also of Assistants restructured. (The staff have been on leave and resorted in between to sit in strike in support of their demands. They have also attempted to picket the Secretariat on Monday and courted arrest although all the arrested employees were let off in the evening that day).
