Christ College in semifinals

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Christ College, Irinjalakuda and LNCPE, Kariyavattom moved into the semifinals in the football competitions of the 8th College Games at the Chandrasekharan Nair stadium on Wednesday.

Defending champion, Christ College overcame St. Xavier's College, Thumba by a solitary goal. Risham scored the match-winner for Christ in the 75th minute.

LNCPE withstood a spirited challenge from Payyanur College before winning a tense contest 3-2.

Tensin opened scoring for LNCPE in the 12th minute while Vishakh equalised for Payannur in the 29th minute. However, Jithin restored the lead for LNCPE in the 35th minute only to find Rathish level the scores in the 51st minute. But Jithin found the match-winner in the 72nd minute. — Principal Correspondent
