PONDICHERRY: Former legislator and also former chairman of Pondicherry Khadi and Village Industries Board S. Manohar announced at a press conference here on Thursday that he would join the ruling Congress. He said he called on the Pondicherry Pradesh Congress committee president P. Shanmugham a few days ago to convey his intention. He said he would formally join the party at a function in PCC office here on February 19 in the presence of the PCC president along with a large number of his colleagues. Manohar was elected to Pondicherry Assembly in 1996 from Uppalam Assembly constituency here on the then TMC ticket. He said it was for the party leadership to decide whether he should contest the coming Assembly poll from the Uppalam constituency.
