2007 will see 150th year of 3 universities

NEW DELHI:
Come year 2007, the university system in India will turn 150. For, it was in 1857 that Bombay, Madras and Calcutta universities were set up.
And, to usher in this milestone year, the Government has formed a committee to coordinate and suggest programmes.
Arjun Singh to chair committee
Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh will chair the 35-member committee, which will have as its members Union Minister for Science and Technology Kapil Sibal and Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi.
Other members include, Planning Commission member B. L. Mungekar and Higher Education Ministers of Assam, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Kerala, Maharashtra, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu.
