Violence against Pandits condemned
Washington:
The Kashmir Task Force of the U.S. Congressional Caucus on India and Indian Americans has introduced a resolution in the House of Representatives, condemning the human rights violations of Kashmiri Pandits.
It urged New Delhi to work with the community in its efforts to resolve the Kashmir issue.
Democratic Congressman Frank Pallone Jr. introduced the resolution that said the conflict in the valley could not be separated from the global war against terrorism.
"The conflict in Kashmir cannot be separated from the global war against terrorism. Over the past 15 years, militant forces, including elements of al-Qaeda and the Taliban, have used violence against the Kashmiri Pandits in an effort to institute Islamic rule in this region," Mr. Pallone said in a statement.
