VISAKHAPATNAM: The Left parties too will be approached for forming a third alternative, Telugu Desam Party president and the former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, told the media here on Thursday. The third alternative, not a front, was being proposed with the help of regional parties. "We are not in a hurry or mad after power." A third alternative was being planned to form a secular government and help the poor, who should also enjoy the benefits of technological advances. When he was told that BJP leader Bandaru Dattatreya had welcomed formation of a third alternative, he said it was immaterial whether the BJP welcomed or opposed it. On coalitions, he said only persons were failing and not coalitions. Asked whether he expected a mid-term election to the Lok Sabha, Mr. Naidu said it was a hypothetical question.
Poser to Sonia
Mr. Naidu wanted Congress president Sonia Gandhi to answer why India did not continue its tradition of non-alignment and allowed its foreign policy to be decided by the U.S. "Iran had never been inimical to India. Will the Government of India take the responsibility if any untoward incident happened here?" he asked.
