VC refutes allegations

BIJAPUR: Syeda Akhtar, Vice-Chancellor of Karnataka Women's University, Bijapur, has denied the allegations of corruption and nepotism made against her by a Syndicate member and some non-governmental organisations. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Dr. Syeda Akhtar said she is ready to face inquiry. "Inquiry should be instituted into the allegations to clear off the smoke," she added. Dr. Syeda Akhtar was reacting to the charges made by Syndicate member Vidyavati Ankalagi.
