JAIPUR: After deciding to market its properties aggressively in various metros of the country, the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has resolved on a hi-tech campaign to boost the sale of its merchandise -- plots in various parts of the Pink City, which is experiencing a real estate boom. Hereafter, JDA will send out 20,000 SMS messages to potential customers within and outside Rajasthan whenever a property worth Rs.1 crore or more is put under the hammer. The hitherto cash-starved JDA, which garnered Rs.510 crores in the past six months through aggressive auction of plots, has created a land bank of 55,364 bighas in 475 villages surrounding the City to help it expand with ease. The land bank, announced on the occasion of Republic Day this year, has plots worth about Rs.7,300 crores. The Authority had undertaken a special drive with the help of the district administration in October 2005 to register all its properties lying scattered in various villages. Besides the campaigns making use of the electronic and print media and the huge hoardings it has put up in various part of the City, JDA proposes to give a personal touch to its reach out programme by sending boxes of sweets to the bidders, realtors and developers in the metros and other cities on the occasion of festivals -- starting with Holi. The income from the auctions would be put to use in the construction of new roads and repair of the old ones, building of flyovers, railway over bridges and other activities of social and community development, a JDA source informed. As part of its plan to systematically develop the rural outskirts of the Pink City as commercial hubs, JDA on Wednesday announced its decision to auction land for a five-star hotel and shopping mall at Kanota on the Jaipur-Agra road. The location offered is 17 km from the City and falls within the Golden Triangle of tourism on the National Highway No.11. The proposed five star hotel and the mall, 10 km from the Oberoi's Rajvilas Hotel, are expected to generate jobs for the local artistes and youth.
