Tuberculosis awareness programme begins today

KANNUR: A week-long awareness programme on tuberculosis will be conducted in the district from February 17 as part of the TB control campaign under the National TB Control Programme.

E.K. Zainuddin, District TB Officer, said at a press conference here on Thursday that the awareness programme would be conducted in different parts of the district under the auspices of five TB units here. Rallies and classes would be conducted as part of the campaign, he said.

As many as 2,000 cases of TB had been detected in the district in 2005, he said adding that 1,800 of them had been cured.
