KOLKATA : Second-seeded Kamala Kannan of Tamil Nadu was ousted by unseeded local challenger Vinod Kumar Sewa in the men's quarterfinals of the Central Excise Open AITA grasscourt tennis here on Thursday. Sewa took just 65 minutes to upset the seasoned Kannan, who committed numerous errors before losing in straight sets. In another match top-seeded Vinod Sridhar of Tamil Nadu took barely 40 minutes to see off qualifier Anshuman Dutta of Assam 6-0, 6-0. Fourth seeded Gursharan Singh from Punjab got the better of another qualifier, Robin Das, in straight sets to book a semifinal berth.

Women: singles: Ragini Vimal (Ben) bt Devanshi Rajgharia (Ben) 6-1, 6-0; 6-Naina Karsolia (UP) bt Raadhae Svarupa (TN) 6-1, 6-3.
