HYDERABAD: A 20-member high-level delegation, led by Brig. Siddiqui, chairman of the Games Technical Conduct Committee, looked pleased with the infrastructure in the city and the readiness to host the World Military Games in October 2007. This was the impression one got from the high-level delegation which inspected the stadiums here on Wednesday, as part of its efforts to know Hyderabad's preparedness to host the Military Games. "We think the city can host the Games within two days' notice," was the remark made to the senior officials of SAAP, including Deputy Director Ch. Ramesh, who accompanied them. The Military Games competitions will be held in athletics, aquatics, boxing, judo, handball, hockey, shooting, football, volleyball, wrestling, triathlon and sailing (at Visakhapatnam). "We are pleased with the infrastructure available. Effectively, there should be no problem as far as technical aspects of the Games is concerned," the delegation told the SAAP officials. The delegation was also happy with the support systems in place for the Games like the software. The recent AICC plenary at the Gachibowli GMC Balayogi Stadium speeded up things on this front and the delegation went around the media centre which can accommodate about 150 personnel. The Director of Competitions set March 5 as the deadline for formalising the finer aspects on the technical front and the focus would henceforth be on the support staff number of volunteers required to organise the show as well as the inaugural edition of the 2003 Afro-Asian Games here. The delegation inspected all the venues during the hectic trip, including Saroornagar, Lal Bahadur Stadium, Swarnandhra Pradesh Sports Complex in Gachibowli, Yousufguda Indoor Stadium and the shooting ranges in Central University.
