KOLKATA: National champion Jayanta Talukdar won the Olympic round individual gold medal beating two crack archers from Japan and Korea in the first Asian circuit archery meet at Bangkok on Thursday. The Indian women's compound team also won a gold medal. According to information reaching here, Talukdar defeated Kim Sung Nyung of Korea 111-109 in the final and 2004 Athens Olympic silver medallist Hiroshi Yamamoto of Japan 111-110 in the semifinals. Talukdar was originally named in the squad for SAF meet held at Dhaka. Considering his tremendous form, he was pulled out of the Dhaka squad and included in the Bangkok-bound team. The 19-year-old did wonderfully well by winning the individual gold medal. The team events would be played on Friday. Jhanu Hansdah bagged the silver medal in the women's individual compound event while Sakro Besra took the bronze medal. The Indian men's compound team also won the bronze medal. Special Correspondent
