Telephone numbers transferred

NEW DELHI: About 1,100 telephone numbers of Kidwai Bhawan/Janpath exchange starting with level 2372 will be transferred to another exchange in the same area of operation this Friday due to technical reasons.

There will be no change in telephone numbers. Subscribers using dynamic code facilities and phone plus facilities will have to re-register their code and reactivate the phone plus facilities. In case of any difficulty, subscribers can contact telephone Nos. 23325533/9868132452 (mobile).

Afghanistan delegation visits Sulabh campus

NEW DELHI: An Afghanistan Government delegation led by Kabul Mayor Ghulam Sakhi Noorzad visited the Sulabh campus here on Wednesday.

Dr. Noorzad said India was setting up many projects in his country including roads, building schools and other buildings.

Stating that Afghanistan had lost infrastructure due to civil war, the Mayor said: ``We are building virtually a new nation out of the ruins of the old. The role of India in Afghanistan's national reconstruction is truly notable. Sulabh is our partner in progress."

Sulabh is setting up five model toilet complexes in Kabul with the assistance of the Indian Government.

Bal Mela prizes presented

NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit presented the annual Bal Mela prizes and awards to children belonging to various educational institutions of Delhi and neighbouring towns for their excellence in different fields at a function on Wednesday.

Organised under the joint auspices of Nehru Bal Samiti, Indo-Russian Council for Child Development and Russian Centre of Science and Culture, the function saw participation of a large number of children. The Samiti's Kala Bhushan Awards-2005 were presented to Surbhi Sachdeva (sitarist) of Bal Bharti Public School, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital Marg, and Apoorva Sehgal of Apeejay School, Faridabad.

Sports Goods exhibition

NEW DELHI: India Trade Promotion Organisation is organising a five-day Sports Goods and Physical Fitness Equipment Exhibition at Pragati Maidan here beginning this Saturday.

Union Minister of State for Commerce Jairam Ramesh will inaugurate the fair that will see the participation of about 40 leading companies dealing in indoor and outdoor sports goods and accessories, sportswear, physical fitness equipment. The display items also include sports nutrition, cosmetics and cricket balling speed-checking machine.

Additional activities at the fair will include bench press championship and kite flying competition, taekwondo and wushu demonstration and free consultation on physiotherapy.
