Jewellery snatched from two women

CHENNAI: Gold jewellery weighing 17 and a half sovereign were snatched from two women in Anna Nagar police district on Wednesday.

According to police, the first incident occurred in K Block around 6.30 p.m. when Ananthalakshmi (51) was on her way home from a nearby shop.

The thief, who was on a two-wheeler, took away 10 sovereigns chain from the victim and escaped.

The second incident was reported at Then Palani Nagar, Kolathur, around 7 p.m.

Jewellery weighing seven and half sovereigns was snatched from Rajeswari Rao (30), when she was returning home.

Police suspect that it could be the handiwork of the same person.

Cases have been registered with Anna Nagar and Rajamangalam police and further investigation is on.
