Chief Engineer suspended

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Government on Thursday placed the Chief Engineer (Irrigation and Administration) T.K. Sasi of Irrigation Department under suspension pending inquiry into the allegation that he has taken bribe.

The suspension follows a television expose in which Mr. Sasi was seen as accepting Rs.25,000 allegedly as bribe from a contractor.

The orders suspending Mr. Sasi was issued by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.

Talking to presspersons after a Cabinet meeting earlier, the Chief Minister had said that stringent action would be taken against those engaged in corruption.
