MADURAI : A rare surgery was performed on Narayanachandra Biswas (34) of West Bengal for complaints of left-sided facial pain at the Department of Neuro Science in Meenakshi Mission Hospital and Research Centre here recently. According to a press release from the centre, after investigations, a tumour in the last trigeminal nerve in the brain was found. The tumour was operated by a technically difficult skull base approach and was totally excised. A team of surgeons, which was led by doctor K. Selvamuthukumaran, consultant neurosurgeon, and included Dr. Viajaya, consultant neurosurgeon, and doctor Rajesh, anaesthetist, performed the surgery.
