Free cancer

detection camp

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Dr. Vivek Memorial Social Services Forum will organise a free cancer detection camp at the Primary Health Centre at Vakkom on February 19 to mark the first death anniversary of the Vivek who died in an accident. A team of doctors and technicians from the Regional Cancer Centre here will examine the patients. Expensive investigation such as PAP smear test and Colposcopy will also be done free. The camp will begin at 9.30 a.m.

Army recruitment

Thiruvananthapuram: Forty-one candidates have cleared the Common Entrance Examination held here on January 29 for recruitment to the Indian Army. The candidates are advised to contact the Branch Recruiting Office from February 18 to 20, along with copies of eligibility certificates. — Staff Reporter

Exhibition

Thiruvananthapuram: Rare archival documents and pictures relating to the freedom struggle are on display at a two-day exhibition organised by the State Archives Department in connection with the 75th anniversary of the Dandi Yatra. B. Vijayakumar, MLA, inaugurated the exhibition at the YMCA hall.

Road closed

Thiruvananthapuram: The Vamanapuram-Kalamachal road will remain closed to traffic from February 18 to 28 for the reconstruction of a culvert near Vamanapuram. Vehicles on the route will be diverted through Maveli Nagar, Kottukunnam and Alanthara junction.

Quiz competition

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State Bank of Travancore Staff Recreation Club will organise an inter-institutional quiz competition at the club hall, Ananthavilasam Palace, here at 3 p.m. on February 25.
