Rape: man gets jail term

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
Principal Sessions Judge D. Pappachan on Thursday sentenced a 56-year-old man to seven years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs.25,000 after he was found guilty of raping a 16-year-old Harijan girl at Kottukal, in April, 2001.
In case of default of payment of the fine amount the convict has to undergo rigorous imprisonment for three more years.
The prosecution case was that Chandran a resident of Punnakkulam, Kottukal, abducted Shobha, his neighbour, to Ottasekharamangalam on the pretext of marrying her and exploited her sexually.
