ERODE: The Labour Welfare Department is taking preliminary steps to register cases against two private spinning mills at Kangeyam for deploying child labourers. According to a release from the department on Friday, officials from the Labour Welfare Department, doctors from Primary Health Centres and personnel from National Child Labourers Eradication Scheme jointly conducted a raid in Kangeyam on February 15.
Admitted in schools
They inspected two spinning mills, automobile workshops, lathe industries and hotels in the area and rescued six child labourers from the spinning mills. The child labourers were admitted in the special school run by the National Child Labour Eradication wing.
