Kerala Private Medical Technicians Association's fears over Para Medical Council Bill

KOZHIKODE: The Kerala Private Medical Technicians Association has demanded that the Government ensure security of employment and legal protection to all medical technicians in the health sector through the Para Medical Council Bill.

At a press conference here on Friday, association general secretary P.C. Kishore said the future of the medical technicians had become uncertain with the Governor giving assent to the Para Medical Bill.

The Bill was likely to derecognise the 35,000-odd medical technicians in private institutions creating a crisis in the diagnostic services in the health sector in the State. The institutions too would have to be closed down. However, the Bill did not recommend any step to overcome the problem, he said.

The district conference of medical technicians being organised on February 19, at the Nalanda Auditorium here, would discuss these issues.
