LACKS PUNCH: Arjun in an action scene from `Sivakasi'

Sivakasi (Telugu)

Cast: Arjun,

Jagapathi Babu,

Vedika, Gazala

Director: Arjun

Arjun is a familiar name among Telugu audiences. But his film Sivakasi with Mumbai mafia providing a backdrop is not impressive due to excessive action scenes.

Arjun provides story, screenplay and direction, besides producing the film. The director tries to mix love, romance, sentiment, revenge with mafia.

Ravi bhai and Mani bhai (Vijayan) are underworld dons. Though both are brothers, they are at loggerheads.

Siva (Jagapatibabu) works for Mani. Kasi (Arjun), who reaches Mumbai to take revenge for his parents' death, kills two of his enemies and settles with Ravi bhai.

Both Siva and Kasi were jail mates in Rajahmundry prison. Ravi and Mani groups clash with each other frequently which Ravi's son does not like and lives separately.

Kasi happens to find his third enemy and kills him only to find that it is none other than the one whom Ravi's son loved.

At this juncture, Mani's son tries to kill Chinna who is brother of Siva. With Siva turning against Mani, Ravi and Mani join hands and decide to eliminate Siva and Kasi.

Will their plans fructify? Will Siva and Kasi unite to fight against the mafia dons? This forms part of the climax. Arjun and Jagapatibabu's play their roles well. Gazala plays Siva's wife while Vedika as Kasi's girlfriend is glamorous. Comedy by Sunil is hilarious. Fights shot under the choreography of Amin Ghani are extraordinary, especially the chases are shot well. The only minus part in the film is excessive use of guns. Such scenes may not be liked by Telugu audiences.

Music by Iman is okay.
