Equestrian championship gets underway

PONDICHERRY: The South India equestrian championship, in which seven clubs including the Chennai Equestrian Association (CEA), Madras Riding School (MRS), Tirupur Riding School, Coimbatore Riding School and two clubs from Bangalore are participating, got under way at the Red Earth Riding School (RERS) campus in Auroville on Friday.

The Lt Governor of Pondicherry M.M. Lakhera inaugurated the three-day event.

The results: Dressage Novice: 14- 19 years: 1. Ratan (Silent Boy, CEA) 128 points, 2. Akshaya (Awesome Mover, MRS) 121. Senior: 1. Jacqueline Kapur (Kalif, RERS) 163, 2. C.K. Somanna (Susan, CEA) 144.

Dressage Combine under-19: 1. Milan (Millesime, RERS) 64, 2. Adam Oberoi (Perky, ECE) 63.

Seniors: 1. Aly Askar Mirza (Scott, ECE) 68, Aubert (Aristo, RERS) 67.

110cm jump seniors: 1. Kaviarasu (Fereneze, MRS), 2. Aditya (Guatemala, MRS).

110 cm jump: 1. Maryk Sahney (Magic Man, ECE) 17, 2. Bhargava (Safio, MRS) 31. — Staff Reporter
