KURNOOL: The Rayalaseema Hakkula Ikya Vedika in collaboration with NGOs association in Rayalaseema and Andhra regions is planning a joint protest against implementation of G.O. 610. Talking to reporters here on Friday, president of the vedika T.G. Venkatesh termed the decision "inhuman" and said the Government under pressure from Telengana leaders was planning to send back employees from other regions.
Black day on Feb. 23
The vedika and NGOs associations planned to observe black day on February 23 by wearing black badges and conduct a meeting of NGO leaders from Rayalaseema and Andhra regions at Hyderabad on Monday to chalk out the agitation. Mr. Venkatesh said number of people going to be displaced from the region would be small but the decision would affect the sentiments of people. It would fuel the separatist tendencies in all the regions. People from Rayalaseema would be hurt more because they allowed shifting the capital from Kurnool for unified Andhra Pradesh. Had the capital remained at Kurnool and Krishna water was used for development of Rayalaseema and a university at Anantapur was set up as per the Sri Bagh accord with the Andhra region, Rayalaseema could have been benefited to a great extent, he reasoned. NGO leader Christopher and vedika secretary B. Lambodaram were present.
