The police said the accused were taking bets on the fourth one-day international cricket match between India and Pakistan in Multan on Thursday.

The accused were taking bets directly and over phone, the police said. On a tip-off, the police raided a house in Mahalakshmi Layout police station limits and arrested the alleged bookies. Their names were given as Vishnu Sahani (60), Bhagwan Sahani (56), Jaideep Sahani (27), Harish Nagpal (24), Amith (21), Moolchand (21) and Karthik (23).
