  • Harasses her on her mobile

HYDERABAD: A stalker inflicted knife injuries on an Intermediate student for spurning his overtures near her house at Kompally on the city's outskirts on Friday.

The teenager was returning home on foot after college when Saif, the accused, and five of his accomplices, who came on two motorcycles, intercepted her around 3.30 p.m. "Stating that none can stop him from getting what he wanted, Saif caught the girl and slashed her left hand with a knife and sped away as she shouted in pain," Petbasheerabad Sub-Inspector Srinath Reddy told The Hindu .

Earlier in the day, the accused lay in wait at Loyola College in Alwal where the girl is a student. He caught up with her outside the college and allegedly threatened to kill her if she refused to accept his love. When she asked him to mind his business, the youngster tried to misbehave with her.

The frustrated girl slapped him, ran into the college and complained to the principal who called in the Alwal police. After the college hours, a lecturer accompanied the girl to the bus stop. Saif and his accomplices surrounded her when she was walking back to her flat alone. The girl and her parents were shocked when Saif called up on her mobile while they were coming out of the Petbasheerabad police station after lodging a complaint about the attack. Saif allegedly threatened the girl to see her end saying he knew about the complaint they had made.

    Constant harassment

Police said Saif was a friend of the girl's classmate and used to drop in to see the latter now and then. On Valentine's Day on Tuesday, he tried to befriend the girl by presenting her flowers but the latter refused to accept them. "Since then, he had been harassing her by calling up on her mobile," the police said.

Police have booked a case under Sections 307 (attempt to murder) against the accused and launched a hunt for him.
