Three killed in road accident in Guntur district

Four others injured when vehicle hits a tree

GUNTUR: Three persons died on the spot and four others were injured when a Tata Sumo van hit a tree at Ambapuram on the Macherla - Dachepalli State Highway in Guntur district in the early hours of Friday. The police said that the van travelling from Macherla to Jaggaiahpeta in Krishna district steered to the extreme right of the road 1 km short of the Nadikudi Railway bridge and hit a tree at around 5 a.m. leading to death of the driver A. Chandra Kumar, 35, P. Gorantla Parvathamma, 60, and Kurapati Sambrajyam, 40.

All of the injured were taken to Macherla hospital, where two of them were being treated and two others brought to Government General Hospital here.

Gurazala Circle Inspector of Police V. Kalesha Vali said that all the inmates of the van hailed from Macherla and were taken to Macherla by passersby even before informing the police about the accident.
