Cabinet flayed for approving Girglani report

Staff Reporter

`Decision a threat to State's integrity'

VIJAYAWADA: Former MLA and co-convenor of Institute for Development of Andhra Region Adusumilli Jayaprakash has criticised the State Cabinet for approving the Girglani Commission report.

In a statement on Friday, Mr. Jayaprakash said the report dealing with GO 610 recommended repatriation of employees from other regions working in the Telangana region to their native zones.

He said by approving the panel report, the Cabinet had created a ridiculous situation wherein people belonging to one region in the State had no right to seek employment in the State capital.

The decision was against the interests of people from Andhra region and was a major threat to the integrity of the State, he maintained.

Alleging that the report sought to appease a section of politicians from Telangana region, Mr. Jayaprakash said leaders and employee unions in Andhra region should wake up before their status is reduced to second grade citizens in the State capital.

He said as per the 610 GO/ six-point formula, Hyderabad was a free zone and incorporating it in the sixth zone was not correct.

He said leaders who wanted the State to remain united should sink differences and fight the injustice being meted out to Andhra region.
