Seven sentenced to three years' imprisonment

BANGALORE:
The first Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court has convicted and sentenced seven persons to three years' imprisonment for purchasing goods worth Rs. 5 lakhs by using stolen credit cards.
The court also slapped a fine of Rs. 3,000 each on T.V. Krishna Murthy of Benson Town, K. Ravikumar of Ulsoor, Ajay Kumar of Kumara Park West, Harish Punjabi of Ulsoor, Suresh Chabria of Palace Road, Mohammed Nayaz of Manorayanapalya and Vijay Kumar of Cholurpalya. The Central Crime Branch (CCB) police had filed a charge sheet in the court that the accused, who were working for an agency entrusted with delivering credit cards of Citibank and Hong Kong Bank to customers, had stolen the credit cards without delivering them to the persons concerned.
Godowns gutted
Huge quantity of plastic material kept in nine godowns was destroyed in an accidental fire early on Friday. Police said the fire that broke out around 12.30 a.m. in a godown in Jolly Mohallah on Mysore Road spread to eight adjoining godowns.
